The Baltimore-Washington Conference was awarded top honors for its Web site, newspaper and Discipler Gbwc_superusere resources by the United Methodist Association of Communicators, which met Oct. 24-26 in Charleston, S.C.

The Web Connection, at www.bwcumc.org, was given an award of excellence in the Internet category and named the best Web site in the denomination.

The UMConnection was honored as the best newspaper among the 63 annual conferences in The United Methodist Church.

The Discipler Group Study resource for local churches, titled 'Called,' won the best print design of any annual conference publication.

'This is tremendous,' said Bishop John Schol, who applauded the gifts of the conference's communications staff and called the awards a sign and wonder of 'the movement of the Holy Spirit throughout the conference's congregations, camps, campus ministries, justice and mission ministries, stewardship and discipleship ministries.'

'We have a powerful story to tell,' said Shaun Lane, conference communications director, who noted that the conference staff is not content just having the best Web site. 'Plans are already well underway,' he said, 'in designing ?the Gateway,' a state-of-art information system to serve local churches in this information age.'
