Conference secretaries 'catch the dream'

COLUMBIA ? Eleven conference staff secretaries and administrative assistants attended the 23rd annual conference of the Professional Association of United Methodist Church Secretaries (PAUMCS) in Albuquerque, April 14-16, reported Melva Nowell who attended for the first time. Yvonne Hollis, secretary for Queens Chapel UMC in Beltsville, also attended.

The conference attracted nearly 300 church secretaries from all over the country. Its theme was 'Catch the Dream in the Land of Enchantment ? Albuquerque.'

Some of the workshops took advantage of the local environment, such as 'Our Native American Heritage,' led by Ray Buckley, director of the Native People's Communication office for United Methodist Communications (UMCOM).

DAVIDSONVILLE ? The McMillan Sisters, a gospel singing quartet, held a live recording session April 10 at Union Memorial UMC, where three of the sisters are members. Their debut CD is due to be released this summer.
