Churches robbed

Posted by Bwcarchives on

Three Cockeysville churches in Baltimore County were burglarized July 17, two of them United Methodist and one Baptist.

According to police, the burglars were looking for cash, since computers and other electronic equipment were left untouched.

The Rev. Kim Hall learned about the break-in when a parishioner called her to report that police officers were at Epworth UMC investigating. The burglars went through her desk drawers and found about $40 in petty cash, Hall said.

“But they also removed a heavy safe and took it.” The robbers would discover there was no money inside.

Poplar Grove UMC, on the Texas Charge, was also struck. The burglars damaged windows they broke in order to enter.

Two additional churches were broken into that weekend.
