HAVRE DE GRACE ?In Harford County, nine United Methodist churches participate in a rotating shelter program, from November through April, under the auspices of the Faith Communities and Civic Agencies United organization.

Havre de Grace UMC's turn this year was Thanksgiving week. Church members accompanied their 22 guests to Thanksgiving dinner at the high school, an annual community tradition that serves more than 500 people, said Robin Burke.

Cots and bedding are transferred from one church to another for each weekly shelter. In addition to three meals a day, Havre de Grace UMC provided TVs, video movies, games, cards and magazines for the evening hours. Twice during the week they took their guests to the high school for showers.

United Methodist churches participating in the Harford County program include: Union Chapel, Clark's Chapel, Ayres Chapel, Ames, Emory, Bel Air, Mount Zion and William Watters.
