Churches dedicate another Habitat house

Posted by Bwcarchives on

MARTINSBURG, W. Va. ? On Sunday, July 16, Melissa and her son Nicholas moved into the home in Martinsburg that they helped to build with the Berkeley County Cluster of United Methodist churches.

Members of Hedgesville, Inwood, Trinity and Calvary in Martinsburg, and Otterbein UMCs gathered to dedicate the new home, which they had built during the previous five months.

The Rev. Ed Grove of Trinity thanked them for their work on the house and at 'the very cold hospitality rest stop ministry on Interstate 81.' He added thanks to Bishop John Schol and the Kiss the Pig contest that raised over half of the funds, and all who had provided meals throughout the project.

'Because of your love and commitment, a young family now has a home they can call their own,' Grove said.

This is the third house built by the Berkeley County Cluster for families working with Habitat for Humanity in the Eastern Panhandle. Fund raising has started for the next Eastern Panhandle Habitat house which will be built by women only.
