Hooded Solidarity

Following the shooting death of an African-American youth wearing a hooded sweatshirt in Florida, members of Emory Fellowship in Washington, D.C., wore "hoodies" to witness to social justice and the eradication of racism.

Bishop John Schol and other church leaders also issued statements following the shooting of Trayvon Martin in Florida Feb. 26. "The fact is a young person died and we are divided," Schol said. "How do we as the church of Jesus Christ change our hearts, and the hearts of others so that we live together as one race, the human race, and as diverse people eliminating racism and building the community of God within our churches and our communities?"
