HAVRE DE GRACE ? The missions committee of Hopewell UMC, under the leadership of Barbara Eitemiller, recently donated more than 150 blankets to Project Linus, a volunteer organization that gives handmade blankets to traumatized children in hospitals and shelters.

The Rev. Tim Dowell blessed blanket for children before they were delivered.

They had help from neighbors, the Delta Baptist Church and the Delta Homemakers to make fleece, crocheted, knitted and quilted blankets. They were all displayed throughout the sanctuary before delivery.

Hopewell's Sunday school children drew outlines of their hands on a square of cloth, then their teachers stitched the pieces together for one quilt, said Judy Tibbs. Each child held the edges of the finished quilt and carried it to the altar on the day the Rev. Tim Dowell blessed the blankets.
