Church opens Christian preschool
RIDERWOOD - Hunt's Memorial UMC dedicated its Christian preschool Oct. 17. The service was attended by octogenarian Don Garda who donated the money to buy the playground equipment, said the Rev. Mary Roberts.
It took the congregation more than a year to launch the project. 'We never knew what work it would involve and the money we needed,' she said. 'But God is good and we raised over $140,000, plus received a grant from the Board of Child Care and a lot of volunteers and donations, and we made it.'
The school has six classes for 77 children, ages 2 to 4, five days a week.
