Church makes third Katrina trip
DAVIDSONVILLE - Experienced at Katrina hurricane recovery work, Davidsonville UMC fielded a mission team to Metairie, La., Jan. 6-15. During 2006 they had sent two teams to work in the Mississippi Gulf Coast towns of Bay St. Louis and Moss Point.
Nineteen members of Davidsonville UMC made the trip under the leadership of Blair Smith, who made it a family affair, taking five of his relatives. They stayed at Munholland UMC. Their tasks included roofing (always needed, since inside work can?t be started until roofs are in place to protect the interiors), drywall finishing, cabinet hanging and cleaning up the debris, Smith said.
