Church launches worshiping arts
WASHINGTON, D.C. -Calvary Casa del Pueblo UMC recently launched the RUACH Worshiping Arts ministry with a three-hour worship service, featuring dance and music.
The ministry has long been a dream of Pastor Faye Chandler to be an associate pastor and minister of worshiping arts at the church. A recent three-year grant from the Mustard Seed Foundation has enabled that to happen. The grant is to hire Chandler, but it must be matched.
A portion of the matching grant, around $6,000, was raised during the festive service, at which Chandler preached as well as danced.
The multi-cultural congregation often conducts its worship in at least two languages, and sometimes more.
