Church honored at film festival

Posted by Bwcarchives on

BRUNSWICK - New Hope UMC was one of three youth groups from across the denomination that received top honors in the General Board of Discipleship's first online film festival for youth. They placed second for 'The Merge,' which depicts, in a Claymation-style, a real-life church merger.

It was filmed and edited by Jacob Ewald.

The story was based on the real-life merger of New York Hill and First UMCs in Brunswick.

The Insight Film project was sponsored by Discipleship Board's Young People's Ministries.

Not only did the New Hope UMC youth group receive a $500 award, the film was also shown during Youth '07, which brought together 6,200 United Methodist youth in Greensboro, N.C., July 11-15.

Winning entries may be seen at www.InsightFilmFest.org/winners.htm.
