Church expands as population grows

Posted by Bwcarchives on

MIDDLETOWN ? Parishioners at Middletown UMC are looking forward to the fall when they expect the current renovations to be finished. The church has undertaken a $4 million expansion to accommodate the burgeoning population in the area.

They are currently constructing a lower-level block of classrooms, overhauling the foyer and kitchen and expanding the social hall, according to the Rev. Bill Bennett, a probationary deacon in charge of the project. It should be completed by mid-summer.

The renovations will provide room to expand daily use of the building for the before-and after-school childcare program and the Thursday evening Parents Time Out. The roof of the social hall will be raised to create a different ambiance for the contemporary service.
