Campus minister receives award

Posted by Bwcarchives on

FROSTBURG - The Rev. Larry Neumark, chaplain for United Campus Ministry for the past 27 years at Frostburg State University, was awarded the Francis Asbury Award from the conference?s Committee on Higher Education and Campus Ministry.

Neumark received the award for his widespread leadership in campus ecumenical activities, such as sponsoring programs designed to promote understanding of Judaism, Christianity and Islam; raising over $10,000 to purchase two arks for Heifer International; leading a weekly faculty-staff-community reading and discussion group; and partnering with many university committees and Allegany College of Maryland.

'I was completely surprised,' said Neumark, who preached at Frostburg UMC for the Rev. Rebecca Vardiman that day, May 21. He said his ministry 'is a holistic ministry ? that is a complex, multifaceted ministry that involves the campus, the community and the conference.'
