Posted by Bwcarchives on

FROSTBURG - With a goal of raising $10,000 to cover the costs of two 'Arks' for Heifer International, the students at Frostburg UMC and their chaplain, the Rev. Larry Neumark, raised more than enough for three Arks. The arks represent domestic animals - from oxen and camels to ducks and chickens - that are given to poor families and communities in developiong countries as a means of generating income and increasing the food supply. Heifer also provides training in sustainable farming.

In addition to the students, Neumark enlisted the community, churches, organizations and businesses, to contribute to the cause. 'The generosity of the people in Western Maryland astounds me,' he said. 'Every donation, no matter how large or small, counted. Together we are making a difference in the lives of people.'
