WASHINGTON, D.C. – Twenty people from the Baltimore-Washington Area of Reconciling United Methodists (BWARM) accepted the 2009 Cup of Justice Award on the final night of the Reconciling Ministries Network’s ninth biennial convocation held Sept. 4-7 in Estes Park, Colo.

More than 500 United Methodists from all over the U.S. and as far away as Nigeria and Uruguay celebrated 25 years of advocacy by the Reconciling Ministries Network, said Mittie Quinn, BWARM Education co-chair and lay member of Dumbarton UMC.

The award is given “for taking bold action to invoke justice where injustice, oppression and exclusion exist,” Quinn said.
