Burglaries create opportunities
WASHINGTON, D.C. - As Brightwood Park UMC in Northwest Washington prepared to refurbish its church gymnasium, the church had a burglary Jan. 22. Someone entered the church by pushing open a window and stealing two pieces of the contractor's equipment.
This was the fourth burglary over the past year, said the Rev. Thomas Hagin. "But that's not the important thing," he said. "What's important is what God is doing in this church and community."
To address the systemic problem of crime, the church is offering several programs in the community and more are planned.
