Blanketed in love

Posted by Bwcarchives on

HAVRE DE GRACE - For the past eight months, members of the United Methodist Women and the Sunday school at Hopewell UMC on the Susquehanna Charge, have been creating blankets for children in hospitals and shelters, their second year of having a successful Project Linus project.

In all they made 121 blankets from fleece, flannel, quilted, knitted and crocheted. The blankets depicted a variety of themes from Orioles and Ravens to fairies, kittens and dogs. 'They were all made with love,' said Judy Tibbs.

The Missions Commission, chaired by Barbara Eitemiller, attached cloth labels to each blanket, stating it was made by someone at Hopewell, and hosted a blanket reception. During morning worship, the Sunday school children carried their blankets to the altar and the Rev. Timothy Dowell held a blessing service, 'so they could be sent on their journey to those in need,' Tibbs said.
