HANOVER - Fifty members of eight United Methodist churches and others gathered at St. Mark's UMC, to rehearse for a concert they performed at the opening of an African-American history exhibition at the Mormon Temple Visitor's Center in Kensington, Jan. 26, reported Betty Mack, a church member and leader with the Northern Arundel Cultural Preservation Society, co-sponsoring the event.

"Trails, Tracks, Tarmac: Lives of African Americans in the History and Culture of Northern Anne Arundel County, 1850 to Present," features historical treasures that span more than 100 years. Among the items in the collection are land documents from the 1800s, photos, farm implements, school histories, railroad equipment and documentary quilts.

The exhibit is free and open to the public, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, at 9900 Stoneybrook Drive in Kensington. For information and directions, call 301-587-0144.
