Auction enriches missions budget

Posted by Bwcarchives on

ROCKVILLE - Billed as 'the most fun you could ever have at Faith Church,' the 13th annual missions auction at Faith UMC March 17 lived up to its reputation, said the Rev. Ken Jones.

Auctioneers Jim Johnston and Warren Wright sold items donated by members and local merchants that included trips and cruises, vacation condos, ski and voice lessons, golf with the Rev. Mark Derby, Redskins and Orioles tickets, homemade breads, baby and animal sitting, haircuts, shampoos and pedicures.

A family dinner was served beforehand and when the evening was over, the missions budget was $14,200 richer, an all-time high for the event. The proceeds will be used for international and local missions, the Youth Work Trip, Habitat for Humanity and community benevolences.
