Posted by Bwcarchives on

WASHINGTON - The United Methodist Student Movement, at its recent meeting at the University of Puget Sound, elected Rachel Birkhahn-Rommiefanger as its co-chair. She is a senior at American University and active in the campus ministry, said the Rev. Mark Schaefer, United Methodist chaplain.

Birkhahn-Rommiefanger had just finished serving her first year on the UMSM steering committee for the Northeastern Jurisdiction. She was elected for the 2007-2008 school year, and will also serve as its co-chair of the Student Forum.

During her tenure, she hopes to expand the participation of those campuses not currently participating in the UMSM and to bring a social justice focus to the UMSM. Her duties include attending regular meetings of the General Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry.

Co-chairing with her is Jonathan Fell, who represents the North Central Jurisdiction and will be attending Garrett Theological Seminary in the fall.
