Apportionment giving on target

Posted by Bwcarchives on

The deadline for churches to make their final apportionment payments for 2011 is Tuesday, Jan. 17.

As of the end of November, giving was ahead of the anticipated 90.25 percent collection rate that is needed to meet the conference budget. Total apportionment giving is running 1.5 percent greater than last year’s donations. This is a significant milestone for the conference since there were no increases to the apportionment levels between 2010 and 2011.

In 2010, 509 churches paid 100 percent of their apportionments, one of the indicators of having a vital congregation. This year, conference leaders are hopeful that number will rise. (Updated apportionment giving information can be found here.)

Apportionment giving is a cornerstone of the connectional system. For every $100 put in the collection plate, an estimated $12.25 goes to mission and ministry beyond the local church.
