Another 'God's Foolish One' named

BALTIMORE - More than 100 conference members and friends attended the Methodist Federation of Social Action?s annual luncheon meeting the first day of annual conference. Bishop Forrest C. Stith was the speaker (see commentary, p. 3).

As is the custom, before the speech, the 'God?s Foolish One' award was presented to an unsuspecting member of the audience.

The long-standing award focuses on someone in the conference, lay or clergy, who has contributed considerably to furthering social justice ministries. This year?s honoree was the Rev. Terri Rae Chattin, superintendent of the Frederick District and a long time member of MFSA.

In presenting the award, the Rev. Stephanie Vader said, 'She has offered the radical hospitality the church offers. She will not be contained by labels, nor easily pigeon-holed.' Chattin, she said, meets life with humor and is always 'unwavering in her commitment to Christ and the church.'
