After school program encourages kids
The church opens its parking lot in the summer and fellowship hall in the winter to the neighborhood children.
Volunteers from the church, one for every two children, help with homework and the new computer lab, then "play."
"They thrive with the individual attention," said Cindy Brown, the church's program director. "Most of the children are from broken homes," she said. "Some have family members who have been murdered."
This year there are 23 children registered and when outdoor season begins again, more from the surrounding neighborhoods are expected.
