March 7, 2012

Dear United Methodist Leaders and Friends,

Across the nation and around the world, United Methodists will be commissioned this Sunday, March 11, to pray for the elected delegates, members of the Council of Bishops and all the other leaders of the 2012 General Conference

Our first day of prayer is this coming Friday, March 16. If you have not received your free copy of this resource provided by The Upper Room, please get it now through one or more of the means below:

The 50 Days of Prayer Before and During the General Conference is available on the Internet at this site where you will find:

  • sign up for a free daily email version and the meditation will be sent to you each day;
  • download one of the PDF versions in English, Portuguese or French;
  • receive the eBook edition;
  • order the English print on demand edition available through the United Methodist Reporter: individual copies are $4.95 postpaid and the cost for bulk mailing to groups and congregations is reduced; click here or call 1-855-469-3386;
  • look for additional language translations in process.

Note: The Upper Room grants permission to copy and distribute this text to anyone willing to join in prayer.  Permission is also granted to translate this resource into other languages to serve United Methodists in other countries.

Encourage your worship leaders to  use the March 11 commissioning service available on the GBOD website, simply click here: http://bit.ly/commission50Days.  The commissioning can take place in future weeks as others join those commissioned this week. Therefore, pastors may use it multiple times during the weeks leading up to General Conference, adapting it as needed.

Please join us in prayer each day.  Encourage others to participate as well.  Together we are praying for God's wisdom and for God’s will to be done, in God's way, and in God's time through the upcoming General Conference

Yours in Christ,

Tom Albin and Frances Jennings
