12-year-old inspired by VBS

Posted by Bwcarchives on

BALTIMORE ? An enthusiastic 12-year-old, Allison Nelson, wrote in Hiss UMC?s newsletter, 'It was the best Vacation Bible School I?ve ever been to.'

She enjoyed 'breaking into tribes,' named for biblical characters, and participating in the Market Place. There she and the other participants bought food, apprenticed to a baker, learned about perfume at the herb shop, had her name written in Arabic, and watched as a weaver turned sheep?s wool into cloth.

'You had to watch out for the census taker and the tax collector, she said. 'If you refused to pay your taxes, you?d get sent to jail.'

The school was directed by Janey Snyder.
