U.S. Methodists Consider What Comes Next After Disagreements Over LGBT Clergy

Posted by Guest Author on

The United Methodist Church is apparently on its way to breaking apart over recently tightened church rules that bar LGBT clergy and same-sex weddings worldwide. This summer, U.S. Methodists have been meeting to consider what comes next, including here in the Baltimore-Washington Conference. Most but not all opposed the new rules. NPR's Tom Gjelten filed this story for All Things Considered yesterday, referencing our conference throughout the piece.

After a lifetime of affiliation with the United Methodist Church, I will no longer support it with my prayers, presence or service. The image I have of Christianity is no longer represented by my church. I want my name to be removed from any roster or record. I am ashamed that I was a part of Methodism!

So do you feel this way because you side with Traditonals or with Divergents?
