Statement from Foundry UMC

Issued June 1, 2016

Today during the Clergy Executive Session of the Baltimore-Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church, clergy did not accept the recommendation of the Board of Ordained Ministry to approve T.C. Morrow for provisional membership as a deacon. We are deeply saddened and grieved in our spirit for T.C., her family, Foundry church, the Baltimore-Washington Conference and The United Methodist Church. We wholeheartedly affirm that T.C. is called by God and that she is gifted for ordained ministry. We have witnessed first-hand the fruit of her faithful service in our call to Love God. Love each other. Change the world. Through our profound sadness we yield ourselves to God to heal the broken-hearted. We invite you to surround T.C. with your prayers as she continues to offer herself in ministry. We ask you to join Foundry in prayer as we continue our journey to champion and call on our denomination to end its discriminatory laws leveled against our LGBTQ sisters and brothers. We pray and believe in God’s timeless will that our United Methodist Church will recognize the heart and character of God in our LGBTQ sisters and brothers and that all will be accepted into the full life of the church.
