Recovery Bible Study
For people recovering from drug, alcohol and other addictions, the traditional church is not always the most comfortable place. But two United Methodist deaconesses are changing that with a new Life Recovery Bible Study.
On Jan. 8, 2025, a new online group will begin that combines the best of 12-step recovery programs, the Bible, and the writing John Wesley, Methodism’s founder, explained Deaconess Colleen Moskov of St. Mark’s UMC in Easton.
The materials used in the group were created by Deaconess Kathy Loomis, who created curriculum for a similar Recovery Bible Study in Colorado. It is designed specifically for United Methodists in the Baltimore-Washington and Peninsula-Delaware Area to combine recovery and spirituality in meaningful and relevant ways.
