Pastor Donna C. Snodgrass died Feb. 2, 2016. A Life Celebration in her honor was held at Emory UMC in Street March 5.
Donna Channell was born June 23, 1943, in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Donald Troupe and Hilda Holloway Channell. She graduated from North Harford High School in 1961. She and Hubert L. Snodgrass Jr. married in 1964.
She came into the ministry after a successful 20-year career as a real estate agent then attended Wesley Theological Seminary to prepare for the new career. She was the pastor of Mount Vernon UMC in Whiteford for 12 years, from 1997 until she retired in 2009.
Snodgrass was proud of her rural upbringing. A farmer’s daughter, she loved the dairy farm, her Guernsey cows and growing tomatoes. She enjoyed genealogy, often researching her Scotch-Irish royal heritage. She also enjoyed vacationing in Chincoteague, Va., and Venice, Fla., though her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Hubert L. Snodgrass Jr., two daughters, Julia Snodgrass Ledford of Street, and Lisa Scott Snodgrass of New York City; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
