Janice Sheesley
Janice Sheesley, 81, the widow of the Rev. Dwight Sheesley, died Aug. 10, 2018, at her home in Littlestown, Pa. A service was held Aug. 16 in the chapel at Singleton & Cremation Services in Glen Burnie.
Janice Kemp Sheesley was born Nov. 15, 1936, the daughter of the late Evelyn Wolf, the late Joseph Kemp and the late George Wolf.
She married Dwight L. Sheesley in 1959 and they had four children. For 30 years he worked for the government, retiring in 1988, when he began seminary. He died in 2014 after 55 years together.
She was very involved with church activities in the churches her husband served, including Solley UMC as a student pastor, 1988, when he started at Wesley Theological Seminary, to 1991, when he graduated. He was appointed to Union Bridge/Johnsville Charge until he retired in 1999. Except he went on in retirement to serve several churches: Trinity UMC in Emmitsburg, Catoctin UMC, and returning to Johnsville part-time in 2004 where he finished his pastoral career. Janice Sheesley faithfully served along with him wherever they were.
Her favorite pastimes were crocheting, knitting and reading. She also had a love for NASCAR racing. Her sense of humor and kind heart made her a special person to a lot of people, said her daughter Cindy Hash.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dwight Sheesley Jr., and grandson, Geoffrey Ford.
Survivors include daughter Beverly Ford and husband of Severn; daughter, Cindy Hash and husband of Shrewsbury, Pa.; son Kevin Sheesley and wife of Pasadena; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
