Bishop shares opportunity for restructuring to make BWC more mission minded, Spirit-driven and Christ-centered

In a message to the laity and clergy of the Baltimore-Washington Conference, Bishop LaTrelle Easterling invites area United Methodists to imagine, dream and vision a new way forward.

She and a task force of conference leaders are proposing a restructuring of the Conference. The change in the structure was precipitated by natural attrition and provides an opportunity to examine how to best resource districts and local churches for greater strength and vitality.

The annual conference is the basic body of the church. Its purpose is singular -- to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by equipping its local churches and other faith partners for fruitful mission and ministry.

In the season ahead, input will be sought from all interested parties through surveys, listening sessions and small group conversations. The restructuring proposal, designed to help United Methodists reclaim their fire and passion, is expected to be brought to the 2024 session of the Baltimore-Washington Conference in May.
