License to Preach School

License to Preach School License to Preach School (LTPS) is offered each year, usually in the spring before Annual Conference, to those Certified Candidates who anticipate being appointed to serve a local church as a Licensed Local Pastor.  In certain instances, the District Superintendent and/or DCOM may decide that an assigned leader (such as a lay hire, a CLM who is serving a church, or someone not eligible for certified candidate status) may benefit from the training of LTPS.  They may attend as well, with this stated purpose.  Attendance at LTPS requires the signature of the DS.  LTPS requires 80 hours of training, including an orientation and a preaching practicum.

The 2025 License to Preach School will run from March 1 through mid-April, 2025. This program is by invitation from your District Superintendent only. The application will be available after the first of the year. Please check back in January!
