The bishop also encouraged individuals and churches to explore two new Lenten Studies: Reclaiming and Living Covenant, a Lenten experience of Scripture, UMC Social Principles and antiracist action to build beloved community written by Jen Kidwell and the Rev. Neal Christie; and Created to Love, a journey for inward transformation.
Beginning Feb. 18, and through the season of Lent, Christie, one of the authors of "Reclaiming and Living Covenant," will offer a weekly online session on this six-week study on Thursdays at noon.

Registrations for summer camp, which opened last week, is surpassing expectations as parents and youth respond in great numbers to claim the adventure before them.
Summer camp is a unique and powerful ministry that uses experiential learning and communal Christian living to help young people discover love of God, self, neighbor, and nature.

New Faith Expressions
The next online Training Tuesday is tomorrow night, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and will introduce the federal security grant program available to BWC churches. The Federal Emergency Management Association will soon announce the details of this year's Nonprofit Security Grant Program. These grants are available to all churches to invest in additional security measures to safeguard their places of worship. The webinar will also explore how churches can best safeguard a place of worship. Learn more and register.
Leader Development
New Certified Lay Minister Class Applications are now being accepted: Applications for the next class of Certified Lay Ministers, the Baltimore-Washington Conference Class of 2021-2023, are now being accepted. Visit the BWC website to learn more about the pre-requisite requirements. (Click "Learn More" under Certified Lay Minister for information and application package, as well as a pastor information package.) Prospective CLM students must currently be a Certified Lay Servant or Certified Lay Speaker. The application process includes meeting with one's pastor, church Staff-Parish Relations Committee, and the district superintendent before the July 1 deadline. The next class will start in September and is a two-year commitment. Questions can be directed to Linda Flanagan, the Conference Director of Lay Servant Ministries.

The West River Center is hiring a full-time, year-round Assistant Director. The Assistant Director position is focused primarily on the creation, development, and execution of programming for both summer campers and retreat groups. The ideal person for this position must be equally adept at planning all aspects of the program experience and firsthand facilitation of adventure activities, training and managing paid and volunteer leaders, and mediating conflict resolution.
