Prayers of the People
A memorial service for Mabel Macaulay, spouse of the Rev. Alhassan Macaulay, will be held Aug. 10 at First UMC, 6201 Belcrest Road in Hyattsville, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Condolences can be sent to 7833 Metacomet Road, Hanover, MD 21076.
The fall is already beginning to fill with a number of vital discipleship opportunities that you won't want to miss.
Discipleship Systems: The 3D Journey, a workshop with Rev. Quincy D. Brown, will be held Friday, Sept. 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the BWC Mission Center in Fulton.
The Living Your Call summit, a time-apart for exploration and learning for those experiencing a call to ministry and their mentors, will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Mission Center.
An Immigration Border Immersion trip to San Diego, Calif. and Tijuana, Mexico, will be Oct. 11-14.
Bishop on the District:
More details will be announced soon, but you'll want to make space on your calendar to meet with Bishop LaTrelle Easterling when she visits the districts this fall. She'll meet with clergy from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and with laity from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The schedule includes:
- Annapolis District - Oct. 10, Severna Park UMC
Installation services will be held for the new superintendents this fall. The Rev. John Wunderlich will be welcomed to the Cumberland-Hagerstown District Sunday, Oct. 6, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hancock UMC. The Rev. Rebecca Iannicelli will be welcomed to the Annapolis District Sunday, Oct. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. at St. Mark's UMC in Hanover; and the Rev. Johnsie Cogman's installation service is Sunday, Oct. 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Westphalia UMC in Upper Marlboro.
District Events:
Community UMC, 1690 Reidel Road in Crofton is hosting a worship night for area youth led by Salt 'n Light on Aug. 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.
Church Conference Trainings
2019 Church Conference training's will be held on August 26, 2019 at Mayo UMC and Mt. Tabor UMC, August 27, 2019 at Messiah UMC and St.Marks: Laurel UMC. There will be two training's held on each day. The first training is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and the second training is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We encourage churches to send at least two representatives as we will provide a tutorial on the updated platform.
