The Book of Discipline, para. 259.4c states: "The committee [finance] shall make provision for an annual audit of the records of the financial officers of the local church and all its organization and shall report to the charge conference."It is imperative that this audit be performed in every local church for every and all books (UMW, UMM, UMYF, church school, any bank account (savings or otherwise). This is in the best interest of the church as a whole, the persons responsible for the accounts, and ultimately you as pastor.We did not include this report with Charge Conference material so that it could cover the fiscal year of January 1, 2006 - December 31, 2006. This audit needs to be in your District Superintendent's office by June 30.Please take this seriously and insure that it is completed and filed on time.
