BWC Small Group Studies
BWC small group studies (also known as immersion series) are church-wide studies that incorporates worship, SMALL group study and individual devotional experiences.
The concept behind them is to immerse the congregation into a given topic for a set period of time, so that the learning takes hold in a transformational way. The goal is to involve as many groups and parishioners as possible in the study for a 4-6 week period. The pastor preaches sermons related to the lesson and small groups study the topic for a personal spiritual transformation.
The Baltimore-Washington Conference offers several small group studies:
Sacred Encounters - Excellent for Small Group Studies.
This six-week series, titled Sacred Encounters, is designed to deepen our relationship with the Living God as we walk with Christ and one another through Scripture.
Green Church is a 6-week study that teaches us how to sustain our environment as individuals and as communities of faith by involving everyone in the church — young and old. This study provides everyone with the theological framework for living out God’s vision for creation and our stewardship of it. Green Church helps us to think about our place in God’s creation today and the consequences of our actions tomorrow. We really can make a difference for the future of God’s world.
A Welcoming Life
A Welcoming Life is a six-week Bible study, corresponding sermon series, related worship resources and a daily devotional guide focused on compelling faith sharing and radical hospitality so that our congregations may become even more welcoming places for all God’s children.

A catalyst for thought-provoking actions, it provides resources to inform, inspire and connect church leaders and their congregations with God’s call in life-transforming ways. The series will grow disciples and increase the commitment of servant leaders in your church.
God calls us to live out loud, to be present and fully alive as we journey through each day. But all too often, we misplace the fact that God made us to be incredible. We settle, or we never truly grow, becoming less than God’s intentions for us. But that doesn’t have to be the case. Find out more.
This Series won an award for Best Special Publication at the 2010 United Methodist Association of Communicators Conference.
